The Dakota recorded a $20.5 million deal in January, the most expensive of the year in zip code 10023 outside of the Time Warner Center and 15 Central Park West.

The Dakota recorded a $20.5 million deal in January, the most expensive of the year in zip code 10023 outside of the Time Warner Center and 15 Central Park West.

The Manhattan zip code with the greatest number of home sales of at least $5 million this year has been 10023 on the Upper West Side. (Research site PropertyShark mined the data based on closed deals through Oct. 17.) No surprise, since the area includes 15 Central Park West and the Time Warner Center.

But even without the $5 million-and-up transactions from these ultra-luxury condos – 102 this year! – there have been at least 33 condo, co-op and other single-residential sales that have broken that barrier in 10023.

Lindsay Lohan Wants to Move Into the Dakota, But Will the Dakota Oblige? [UPDATE]

When the Henry Janeway Hardenbergh architecture firm designed The Dakota in 1880, we bet they didn't imagine that 128 years later a certain troubled young woman named Lindsay Lohan might call the place home. According to News of the World, 22-year-old Ms. Lohan, a Long Island native, has been eyeing a $4.6 million apartment at the West 72nd Street building, which she plans to inhabit with her girlfriend, Samantha Ronson

According to the UK tabloid, Ms. Lohan is already making decorating plans. A “top decorator” has apparently been given direction that includes a 12-foot circular bed with a leopard print headboard, "Hers and Hers" monogrammed towels, separate pink and black bathrooms, and a DJ area with a disco ball.  read more »
