Hillary's Man in South Texas Defies Obama's 'Butt-Kicking' Organization
In South Texas, one of the state's remaining Democratic strongholds, people love the Clintons. They know Bill's favorite taco restaurant in McAllen, a city of about 150,000 on the Mexico border. They mobbed him at a Barnes & Noble last fall. They named a school after him.
So things should look pretty good for Hillary Clinton in next week's Texas primary. read more »
Celebrity Stumpers: In Which Ugly Betty Star Does A Dance Called 'Hillary'
Warning to those affected by motion sickness—now is the time to pop a Dramamine.
Beyond all the jiggles and giggles, the nougat at the core of this promo clip—a sewing-circle interview of Hillary Clinton conducted by Traveling Pants sister Amber Tamblyn, Ugly Betty star America Ferrera and the inside of her mouth (Chelsea Clinton is apparently there, too)—is d’lish. read more »
MSNBC's David Shuster to Apologize to the Clintons
According to Howard Kurtz, MSNBC's David Shuster will be issuing an on-air apology this evening at 6 p.m. on Tucker, for comments he made yesterday about Chelsea Clinton's role campaigning for her mother.
"Doesn't it seem as if Chelsea is sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?" he asked (watch the segment above).
Hillary Leaving South Carolina to Bill and Chelsea [updated]
A source in the Clinton campaign confirms that Hillary Clinton will be spending most of the week before the South Carolina primary in states other than South Carolina.
She’s expected to spend Tuesday in California and Arizona, and New Mexico. Wednesday she will be in New Mexico and New Jersey and probably New York. And on Friday, she will return to South Carolina, a day before the primary here. read more »
Chelsea Doesn't Stump, Does Canvass
Chelsea Clinton appeared on stage with her mother on a half dozen stages in a half dozen towns in Iowa yesterday without saying a word. (She tells reporters, as a matter of policy, that she doesn’t speak to the press.)
She does, however, talk to voters on the rope line.
"Thank you for coming,” she said to an attendee after one of her mother’s stump speeches. “I hope you are going to caucus for my mom.”
"Say yes," Chelsea said moments later to a man holding a camera.
He mumbled something and nodded.
"Yes!" Chelsea said, before turning and walking away.
Clinton's 'Family Values' Ad
Hillary Clinton's campaign makes more use of footage from last weekend, when the candidate campaigned with her mother and daughter, in a new ad that emphasizes "family values."
Weekend in Review: Chelsea, Dorothy, Oprah
The top Democratic presidential candidates brought out some of their more powerful symbolic stumpers this weekend. To counter Barack Obama’s breathlessly awaited Oprah event in Iowa, Hillary Clinton campaigned with both her generally press-shy daughter Chelsea and her mother, Dorothy Rodham.
Clinton also sent her husband, who arguably has as much star power as Oprah, to South Carolina. In New Hampshire, the Clinton team dispatched the former secretary of the Navy to deliver a speech in Portsmouth.
The New York Times Magazine published a long profile exploring Hillary’s sometimes opaque emotional landscape, while the Washington Post considered her early life.
In a column this morning, Dan Balz wrote of the Clinton candidacy, "all talk of inevitability is gone," and added that no one knows this better than the candidate herself. read more »
Bill Clinton Says He's 'Ready' To Be 'First Gentleman'
Last night we asked Bill Clinton whether he was ready to become America’s first male First Lady (OK, first gentleman.)
“If the American people are ready to elect [Hillary Clinton], I am," the 61-year-old Mr. Clinton told The Transom. "I’ll do whatever I’m asked to do. I hope they will, because I think it’ll be good for America and the world, but whatever happens…” And then he gave a slight shrug. read more »
