New Poll: Obama by 10, McCain by Six
Yet another New Hampshire poll is out tonight, but this one deserves your attention. The CNN/WMUR survey was conducted on Friday and Saturday, providing the most accurate reading yet on how the Iowa results affected New Hampshire voters.
The poll finds Barack Obama leading Hillary Clinton by 10 points, 39 to 29 -- the first time Obama has opened a double-digit lead in the state in a reputable independent poll. On the Republican side, John McCain leads Mitt Romney, 32 to 26 percent.
Obama's numbers may still be growing, since the full effect of the Iowa bounce has traditionally taken four to five days to register in New Hampshire polls. Or this may be the limit of it, if this year's accelerated calendar -- the window between Iowa and New Hampshire was cut from 8 to 5 days -- speeds up the life cycle of the bounce.
There is a potential silver lining for Hillary, especially if this result is replicated in other surveys: Given her strong debate performance last night (and the fact that the debate will be rebroadcast on CNN tonight), it's possible that she is stirring late movement back to her camp -- movement that won't be fully evident before Tuesday. And the value of any Clinton win on Tuesday will be amplified if she trails badly in these final polls.
On the Republican side, Romney remains within striking distance of the lead. But even before his Iowa loss, momentum wasn't on his side in New Hampshire -- and his uneasy debate performance last night probably didn't help. Still, given how bad things have been for his campaign, it's a small miracle that he's only down by six.

When you're filling your car with $3 gas and buying some $2.65 a dozen eggs, remember who is running on stopping deficit spending. The war for oil is what caused prices for anything that eats grain to skyrocket. When THOSE prices rise, the fresh fruit seller raises his prices again, now you have some nice $5 a pound grapes in the market. Laugh all you want, it's YOUR money being spent. YOU'RE the one going to pay $250 a week for groceries. Still think Ron Paul sounds like a bad idea? He's the ONLY candidate, Republican or Democrat that is running on reducing your cost of living. Maybe you have plenty money. Me, I'm not so rich.
This is not "the first time Obama has opened a double-digit lead in the state in a reputable independent poll." Rasmussen and American Research Group, both highly reputable polling organizations, each showed Obama with a double-digit lead early on Saturday (see realclearpolitics.com), yet none of the mainstream media covered this. Instead, they focused on a single poll that showed Obama and Clinton tied. Why? The media needs to focus on reporting the news accurately instead of creating its own narratives to make for more dramatic headlines of "neck and neck races" and the like.
Also, while it is generally agreed that Clinton didn't fair badly at last night's debate, most analyses out there conclude that Obama did better. I personally was appalled by her appropriation of Karl Rove's infamous flip-flop charge in attacking Obama. Clinton knowingly distorted his positions on health care and Iraq funding, proving once again that she is inseparable from the broken, divisive political status quo.
I hope that Hillary will make Obama her running mate for VP. Then he will have the real experience to make one of the best presidents in our history. Right now I think we need Hillary's savvy. Not to mention that the Middle Eastern leaders would then have to deal with a woman leader.
Econymy wise, well her husband was doing a pretty good job on the budget and I sure she was close to that strategy and reasoning.
I stand for Hillary Clinton.
Obama makes nice speeches but President's job needs more than that. Figure out Obama making his nice speeches to Ahmadinejad. The Iranian president should outwit him instantly. And this would be a loss for the democracy and the value America represents. Obama has to prove he can walk the talk. But till now he's changed a lot: his word and his voting record.
Figure out Ahmadinejad in front of Hillary Clinton President. He'll chicken out. Hillary knows what she says, SHE MEANS WHAT SHE SAYS.
She's agreat woman of our times, she's proven to be a great mother, a great wife even this was very difficult most of the time.
Hillary Clinton has produced change everyday of her life. There's no great man unless a great woman is by his side.
Hillary Clinton has shown strength and grace under pressure and pressure, rather than bread and butter, is what she has cut 24/24, 7/7 all around the year, all her life. Producing change.
HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON HAS BE TESTED AGAIG AND AGAIN AND GUESS WHAT SHE IS FOR REAL SHE GOT THE EXPERIENCE TO MAKE AMERICA NUMBER ONE ALL ROUND, NOW BARACK OSEIN OBAMA WHAT DOES HE STAND FOR? MAYBE FOR OPRAH IN THE WHITE HOUSE, YES THE REPUBLICANS ARE USING HIM TO SPOIL OUR OPPOTUNITY, IN FALL THOSE SAME REPUBLICAN WILL THROW IN OUR FACE THAT THIS MAN THOUGH BORN IN U S A WHITE AMERICAN WOMAN HIS ROOT IS FROM NORTH AFRICA NOT AFRICA I MEAN "NORTH AFRICA" OK OOooo
