Fox's Explanation for Excluding Ron Paul Doesn't Pass

Fox News Channel has listed almost every presidential candidate as appearing in the Republican forum it is holding two nights before the New Hampshire caucus. But they have not listed Ron Paul.
Paul's supporters aren't happy, and Fox hasn't been forthcoming with an explanation. But according to CNN, Fox's justification is that they are inviting only candidates polling in double-digits.
That explanation probably won't, and really shouldn't, appease the Paul campaign.
Fox must have used data from national polls--not New Hampshire polls--to decide which candidates will participate, even though the event is held in New Hampshire just before their primary.
The difference between the two sets of numbers is significant. Paul runs in the low single digits nationally, but in New Hampshire he is near double-digits. More to the point, he leads Fred Thompson in every recent New Hampshire poll, and is just a few points behind Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani. Thompson, Huckabee and Giuliani are all in Fox's New Hampshire debate.
Paul has established that he is factor in the New Hampshire race. Setting a 10 percent standard with national polls seems like a sneaky way to leave him out, especially since the strategy of every underdog campaign (like Paul’s) involves scoring a breakout showing in Iowa or New Hampshire and then expanding support in national polls.

I have resisted any thought that there is any significant manipulation of our countries political system by small, yet extremely wealthy entities. Well, it looks like you would have to be extremely stupid to be still holding on to that perception at this point.
We are the model democracy for the world? No wonder we have having such a hard time selling it.
You have to either in a coma or out of this plant not to see this evident bias by not just Fox but also by the entire MSM. This democracy is just a "myth".
I am so angry over this, I'm looking for where to sign up to boycott any and every advertiser affiliated with Fox news network who doesn't pull out of this event. After 9/11, I was overseas and rabidly defended the U.S. media to a Frenchman who insisted that our news system was corrupt and that our gov't was not telling us the truth. At this point, I am ashamed I was so innocent to the corruption and bias present in BOTH. I hope and pray that what Fox is doing actually awakens a sleeping giant and causes RP supporters to grow and rise up against the gross corruption present in our gov't and media.
Found it. Well this isn't how I intended to spend my New Years day, but it's worth it. For anyone interested, the following link is for a boycott. Spread the word:

They took down their own transparent on the tube text or internet click polls. Now they can not have him anymore, they are too dishonest. They probably have masters.
A small group of individuales manipulating American Elections.
Paul will do well anyhow. We are not alone. Americans are discovering that all of us distrust the few media outlets that attempt to control the publics oppinion. The majority can still think for themselves. Fox and their Masters are scared of that. Paul winns all the debates. That is the reson he is not invited. Paul has nothing to hide. Paul is principled, he is un wavering in the face of criticism, steadfast when confronted with adversity. It takes an honest man to have that character.
RON PAUL IS THE HONEST CANDIDATE.
Ron Paul is the only candidate that will fix and repair the comming Finacial bedlam before it occurs.
as near as I can tell, the 10% figure isn't accurate. This is from the Union Leader
According to WMUR News Director Andrew Vrees and a posting on the ABC News Web site, in order to participate in the Saturday night back-to-back GOP and Democratic events at St. Anselm College, candidates must meet at least one of three criteria:
* Place in the top four in the Iowa caucuses, which will be held Thursday.
* Poll 5 percent or higher in one of the last four reputable random sample New Hampshire telephone surveys sponsored by an established news organization and conducted and released by 9 a.m. on Friday.
* Poll 5 percent or higher in one of the last four reputable random sample national telephone surveys sponsored by an established news organization and conducted and released on or before 9 a.m. Friday.
"WMUR and ABC discussed for a lengthy period of time what the criteria would be, and we agreed to the final criteria," Vrees said. He said that he and station manager Jeff Bartlett were involved in the discussions.

This is exactly how the media sways the public, its scary and we need to do something fast Ron Paul is one of the best candidates and yet keeping him under wraps is how we lose no matter what, unless we take take back, fair and balanced my Ass!!!!. Ron Paul Revoulution!
Julia,
You are listing the criteria that ABC used to determine access to the ABC Debate on the fifth. The Fox Forum is on the 6th and that is the event that Fox is excluding Ron Paul from using their bogus polling 10% nationally. The national poll is a "name recall" poll and in many cases the polling company does not list Ron Paul as an option by name and his supporters end up in the other category. Dr. Paul ranks highest where people are paying the most attention.
Hope this helps.
Switch to the Internet and do your own Research do not trust corporate biased MSM.

Fox S-*%s! Boycott Fox! Join the Ron Paul Revolution!
As a republican I was under the impression that fox news was fair to our side and that the others, CNN/MSNBC/ABC/CBS and the like, were for the dems. I now see that Fox news has a biased viewpoint too. How unfortunate that such a good businessman as Rupert Murdoch has to be a cheerleader for Dubya's corrupt regime.
Fox News is not "afraid" of Ron Paul, they are tired of him running on a Republican ticket when his viewpoints are Libertarian at best. This is a REPUBLICAN debate..let him run as an Independent..he is a quack.
Or maybe the New York Observer would like to stack the deck of questions like the Main Stream Media has done so well in the past debates. Gee, Miss Hilary.."diamonds or pearls???"
This looks like a communist country to me folks. Free speech is what the msm calls free speech. Free trade is anything but fair trade. Illegal is illegal, even if you attach the word immigrant to it. Globilisim/empire is in direct competition with american citizens. Our country, constitution, heritage, and most of all the honor of our fathers that died has been sold to the neo-cons which are owned by the FED banking system. (Don't kid yourself, the neo-cons are servants to the fed). This will happen over and over and over again...(we are where our forefathers were regarding the first revoltion, our government is actually the enemy to our heritage, our jobs, our religious rights, and our republic. They are elitist with no regard whatsoever to the average american. I think this will not turn out so well this time for the establishment, i think they may have crossed a line of no return at this point. Fox news is nothing more than the messenger of the power elite. They just happen to agree with the power elite. This aint gonna be pretty.Just think about it folks, Ron has the greatest movement of any candidate and they are using biased polls to supress his message. He is the greatest voice in our time, and is being silenced. You call this a free country,, I dont think so.. we are all political slaves.
Hi Shannon,
nice to hear from someone who is getting paid for posting here, and don't tell us that you are volunteering, because then you just not too bright, because others are getting filthy reach for selling their soles to the dark side.
Yeah, right Stan
And I suppose you're Dan Rather???
Grow up.
At least I can spell.
Get your friends and family to boycott Fox Faux News and quit buying from Best Buy, Comcast and American Express.
Turn off the war propaganda and punish the corporations that advertise with Faux News.
Rich is spelled rich not reach; and soul is spelled soul as in entity inside of ones body not sole as in the bottom of ones shoe. Oh, your grammar is also bad it should be you are or you're not you.
I guess you aren't Dan Rather or your editor would have been fired.
Dear Shannon,
Did you say: "Fox News is....tired of him running on a Republican ticket" ?
Sweetheart, Fox News is simply a new organization. Or, are you simply missing the point?
How's my spelling?
I am not Dan Rather, just a coincidence.
Thank you Shannon for catching the main point and proofreading.
But let me tell you that indeed soul can become like a sole and some reach too far out to become rich if you will.
English is my second language
Thanks for monitoring this thread
You are exposed
Email to Emperor Murdoch entitled:
"The Emperor's New Clothes are not from Brooks Brothers"
Mr. Murdoch:
Since the airwaves are limited, you bear a great responsibility to make Fox News truly "fair and balanced" and not to use its license to pursue your personal agenda. Excluding Congressman Ron Paul from the New Hampshire debate on January 6, 2008 is inimical to the principles upon which this country was founded and is thus unconscionable in a society that values freedom of choice. It is totally antithetical to the democratic process for Fox News to exclude the candidate who raised nearly $20 million in the last quarter simply because the so-called "scientific polls" show his nationwide support only in the single digits. The validity of these polls has been challenged amply and Dr. Paul's fundraising figure lends strong support to these challenges, not to mention the fact that he leads all other candidates in winning straw polls across the country throughout 2007.
The decision by Fox News to exclude Ron Paul despite the objections of the New Hampshire GOP and despite the fact that he leads other invited candidates in support in NH polls, makes the decision patently transparent. Fox is quite obviously attempting to limit the exposure of Dr. Paul's views and those of the millions of people who have advanced him as their spokesperson and candidate for the presidency--views that are committed to restoring respect for the Constitution and the rule of law--because these views run counter to the Fox agenda.
And, now the final poll before the Iowa Caucuses is showing Dr. Paul tied with Fred Thompson for fourth place. How, Sir, can you justify exclusion? Dr. Paul's support shows him to be a major contender in Iowa where he is polling higher than Rudi Giuliani or at least tied, given the margin of statistical error, and in New Hampshire where he is polling higher or at least tied with Fred Thompson, again given the statistical error. From a logical standpoint, in view of all indicators, it seems ludicrous to exclude Congressman Paul from the Fox debate.
Perhaps, you are, indeed, afraid that the people who hear Dr. Paul will realize that you, Sir, have no clothes!

The LA Times, Top of the Ticket column stated:
"If word got out that Fox/News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch's e-mail was rmurdoch@newscorp.c om, his mailbox would be full in a flash."
Do you suppose Emperor Murdoch's email box runneth over?
It's not just Fox. It's the entire MSM. And Hollywood, and Madison Avenue, and the Fed, and AIPAC, and B'nai Brith, and the CFR and the SPLC and the Corporations (mostly)and Organizatsia and the ADL and and and.
It's an octopus, and it rules America.
Just don't mention the J word.
I guess Fox belongs to the NEW WORLD ORDER!
Who cares about Fox News Channel!
It is the worst, most biased political coverage I have ever seen. I lived in 4 countries, have a PhD degree and speak 6 languages. You should be blind not to realize that the US$ lost 30% of its value compared to Euro in 5 years,
The national debt is reaching $10 trillion and so on (America is loosing a great deal of its economic and political influence). The economic health of stock markets and its contrast with the real average Joe world only shows that revenue redistribution is making middle class disappear. Almost all candidates defend increasing spending on military and/or welfare.
Fox News team is just a band of clowns. I watch them just for amusement. They are not serious. This is the 1st time my family and I vote for president and guess what, Fox News just influence us to stay away from their stupidities.
I wouldn't worry to be excluded from their stupid debate. It just gives Dr Paul and all the other excluded more ammunition.
Shannon...Regarding the issue that you raised concerning grammar, not that it really matters in discussing political issues online where the brain and fingers are not always sympatico, I say, she who is without sin cast the first stone.
Would you like a "do over" on your statement, "Fox News is not 'afraid' of Ron Paul, they are tired of him running on a Republican ticket...." Let me make a suggestion. It would be more grammatically correct to say, "Fox News is not 'afraid' of Ron Paul, they are tired of his running on a Republican ticket...." "Running" is a gerund, acting as a noun. Thus, a noun or pronoun immediately preceding a gerund should be in the possessive case, viz., "his running," instead of "him running." For example, one would not say, "Him run for President as a Republican was unexpected." "Run" is a noun and obviously requires the possessive case.
That being said, I'll also say that attacking someone's grammar instead of debating the content of the person's post is a type of ad hominem attack, as is the epithet, "quack," and the implication that there is something askew in a person who holds Libertarian values, a tactic, far too prevalent in the posts of people who disagree with Ron Paul.
FYI, Ron Paul has been elected to Congress 10 times as a Republican. The people in his district have no problem with [his] valuing liberty, as Libertarians do. There is nothing unusual about a Republican espousing Libertarian values, any more than a Democrat expressing Libertarian values, that is, unless one is a neo-conservative or a neo-liberal who supports the Big Brother, big spending, Nanny State and a global empire instead of a sovereign, national republic.
Ron Paul's ideas are very similar to Barry Goldwater's, Robert Taft's, and Ronald Reagan's. Pretty good quack Republicans if you ask me.
Ron Paul got my vote for president in the past,an will get my vote in this presidential race.Do the right thing an vote for RON PAUL
