Edwards Campaign: Kennedy Was Rich Too

Earlier today, Edwards campaign manager David Bonior was asked by a University College radio show about the supposedly awkward juxtaposition of Edwards’ lavish lifestyle and his focus on poverty as a campaign issue.

“The attacks on John Edwards are coming from people who don’t want to deal with poverty, who don’t care about poor people, who don’t care about the working folks in this county, generally speaking," Bonior said. He added:

“Not only did Robert Kennedy live in a big house, but if you look at the people who are most interested in dealing with this question of poverty over the last 100 years in this country, Franklin Delano Roosevelt lived in a big house, John Kennedy lived in a big house, Lyndon Baines Johnson was a man of wealth. This is really a nonsense argument."

Exactly right, David Bonior. Only today people too easily adopt the lines fed them by the media and smear machines of opponents.
