Barron Staffer: Assassinate Leroy Comrie's Ass

“If it takes an assassination of his ass, he will not be borough president in the borough where I live.”

That was the chief of staff to Charles Barron speaking about another City Council member, Leroy Comrie, who is black and voted to abstain today on a failed proposal today to rename a street after black nationalist Sonny Carson.

The chief of staff, Viola Plummer, was speaking outside City Hall to a group of reporters and advocates for Carson. When asked about her comments, Plummer later said, “So, to assassinate Leroy Comrie’s ass, because that’s what I said, means his whole stuff, his whole run for Queens Borough President.”

When Plummer was asked by a reporter to identify herself, she first indicated that she lived in Queens and ran a community program in Brooklyn. Later she identified herself as a Council employee.

Plummer’s “assassination” remark was very much in the tradition of the sort of militant language employed by Carson himself. (“I’m not anti-Semitic, I’m anti-white,” he once said.) Carson's supporters have said that it's unfair to judge his entire life by his most extreme comments.

What about the Hikind anti Arab , Muslim remarks? Hikind is actually a convicted felon that bloomberg met with during his re-election campaign. Why isn't anyone looking into that? And what about the penis sucking tradition in the chassdic community of little boys after they are circumcised? Why did bloomberg say this form of child molestation is acceptable even after herpes was transmitted to babies?

What the hell is going on in my city?!

jdawg says:

Barron is a racist. Plain and simple. Everything he stands for is precisely the Victimology horse crap that keeps the black community from actually making progress in this country.

Comrie, on the other hand, is a pragmatic and thoughtful leader of the African American community in this City. He should be applauded for his efforts.

My own problem with Comrie is that he didn't vote against the amendment...he only abstained

I was at City Hall yesterday and was appalled at the behavior of both Charles Barron and his Chief of Staff, Viola Plummer. The speaker has every right to fire her after publically insulting members that voted no and making death threats against Leroy Comrie. I used to have some respect for Barron, but it was all lost today when he again showed that all he cares about is playing into the cameras. that is all he cares about. insulting the speaker has an adverse effect on his district. there is definitely diversity of opinion and style in the black community but the barron's of the world can only see the world through a racist world view that demeans those who think differently. as a black man, sonny carson never spoke for me nor will charles barron and his shallow, racist, self centered world view. i vote no to sonny carson and no to charles barron. how dare barron speak for all the black churches and at the same time speak hatred towards other colleagues. God dont like ugly, and today was barron's ugliest day thus far.
